Parsons Creek Aggregates Project
A proposed limestone quarry by Graymont and Inland.
In the high growth Fort McMurray region, traditional supplies of sand and gravel are being depleted. An economical new source of rock products is required. The Parsons Creek Aggregates project can provide that source. The proposed project, to be located north of Fort McMurray, will provide the region with high quality crushed limestone products for use as construction stone. Limestone products can also be used in specialized applications to reduce environmental impacts from industrial operations. For example, limestone is often used as a “reagent” material to remove sulfur from the air emissions of industrial combustion processes.
Graymont has been exploring for limestone in the Fort McMurray region for over 20 years. We believe the limestone deposit that is the basis for the Parsons Creek Aggregates project is the highest quality limestone in the region. Our sampling and analysis demonstrates that the limestone is of high chemical quality, free of any contaminants, and tests as excellent for construction applications. The deposit is abundant, easy to access due to minimal overburden, and located in close proximity to the Fort McMurray market.
